One of the most distinguishing features of this part of Terra Sabaea are thin, dark-toned ridges that may have formed as cracks that were later filled with minerals brought in by groundwater.
Another possibility is that these formed as magma or mud erupted onto the surface from deeper underground. If these ridges formed through either the accumulation of groundwater minerals or mud, they would also be areas in which any evidence of ancient life on Mars could have been preserved.
