Also visible in Context Camera data, the objective of this observation is to examine layers in Hydraotes Chaos. Hydraotes is what geologists label as “chaotic terrain.” It’s recognizable by a jumbled collection of mesas, buttes, and hills, chopped through with valleys which in places look almost patterned. Chaotic terrain occurs in numerous locations on Mars and maybe unique there.
