Chloride in East Thaumasia Planum

Chloride in East Thaumasia Planum

Chloride in East Thaumasia Planum
The chloride detected here occurs within a trough that intersects a wrinkle ridge and crater within the target area, which should be helpful for understanding stratigraphy of the terrain. Are there any other compositions exposed? Chloride salt deposits on Mars are intriguing because they dissolve very readily and thus record the last stage of liquid water present on the surface of Mars.
