The objective of this observation is to examine layers. In a large area in and around Arabia there are outcrops of layered terrain. HiRISE with its superior resolution can see minute details that will enable us to start to catalog different types of layers and to discover under what conditions they are produced. In this particular image there is a cap rock on top of some poorly formed layers and some well formed layers.
