Olympus Mons Aureole

Olympus Mons Aureole

On the Aureole
This region in the Amazonis Planitia may contain lava inflationary features as predicted by terrestrial analog models. By examining possible locations of lava-inflationary features such as tumuli, we can come to a better understanding of specific pathways and behaviors of intricate lava tube systems that often remain hidden. This image is located on the aureole (ring) of the Olympus Mons volcano.
