Dome and Barchan Dunes in Newton Crater

Dome and Barchan Dunes in Newton Crater

Dome Dunes and Barchans
All these lovely little dunes are located inside the almost 300-kilometer diameter Newton Crater, and until now, no one has targeted them with HiRISE. Here, they gather around the edge of a bright streak behind a smaller impact crater. Barchan dunes also form on Earth and are produced by wind action predominantly from one direction.
