A dark, basaltic, sand sheet wraps around exposed bedrock in this observation in Syrtis Major, one of the darkest regions on Mars. Syrtis, once thought to be a plain, is located in the boundary between the northern lowlands and southern highlands of Mars. Our interest is to track changes from an initial picture we acquired in 2009.
