There are many alluvial fans that join together to form bajadas in this part of Coprates Chasma. These fans appear to be related to light-toned deposits seen in the base of the canyon. This observation would allow a much better look at both the alluvial fans (on north and south walls) and their relationship with the light-toned deposits. This observation would also cover some possible normal faulting in the fan deposits, which would help to determine the relationship between faulting and sedimentation in Valles Marineris.
