INDEX Directory Contents

The index directory contains tabular index files, accompanied by detached 
PDS labels, intended for use in data management systems.  The following 
files are found in this directory.

INDXINFO.TXT    -    The file you are reading.

EDRINDEX.LBL    -    Detached PDS label for EDRINDEX.TAB

EDRINDEX.TAB    -    Index table for the current HiRISE Raw EDR volume.

EDRCUMINDEX.TAB -    Cumulative index table for all HiRISE Raw EDR 
                     volumes.

RDRINDEX.LBL    -    Detached PDS label for RDRINDEX.TAB

RDRINDEX.TAB    -    Index table for the current HiRISE
                     RDR volume.

EDRCUMINDEX.TAB -    Cumulative index table for all HiRISE RDR volumes.


              Notes on Using the EDR and RDR Indices 

The EDR index table in this directory contains one row (record) for 
each image on this HiRISE Raw EDR volume. The RDR index table in this
directory contains one row (record) for each image of this HiRISE RDR
volume.

The columns in these table are keywords related to each image.  These
keywords include all of the detached label keywords such as 

  TARGET_NAME
  FILTER_NAME
  START_TIME
  OBSERVATION_ID
  etc.  

Also included are many calculated geometrical keywords such as:
  
  
  etc.

The tables are formatted so that it can be read directly into many database 
systems.  All fields are separated by commas, and character fields are 
enclosed in double quotation marks ("). Character fields are left 
justified and numeric fields are right justified.  

Each record ends with ASCII carriage return and line feed characters.
This allows the table to be treated as a fixed length record file on 
computers that support this file type and as a normal text file on 
other computers.

The EDRINDEX.LBL and RDRINDEX.LBL files are PDS label files that describes
the content and structure of the fields in the index tables, including
field name, format, and description.  

The values for start byte and number of bytes listed in the label file do 
not include commas between fields or quotation marks surrounding character 
fields.

Please note that the geometrical keywords are calculated using the
project-provided reconstructed SPICE kernels.
